A member asked:

What kind of antibiotic can i get to treat tooth infection over the counter?

Antibiotic: Antibiotics are not available OTC as Rx has to be tailored to your need, therefore must be prescribed by a Dentist. Antibiotics do NOT cure dental infections, only limit the spread into other organ systems, and infection will come roaring back once you come off the Meds. To cure a Dental Infection requires Dental Treatment (root canal or extraction). See a Dentist ASAP.

Script: You need a prescription for an antibiotic. FYI, antibiotics do not correct dental problems. Please call a dentist.

OTC treatment: Tooth infections require determination of the cause and definitive treatment by a dentist. Antibiotics require a prescription by a licensed practitioner. Nothing over the counter nor home remedies will resolve your problem, at least long term. See a dentist if you really want to get rid of the infection. When was your last dental treatment? Your health & even your life necessitates proper care.
