The palm area below my index fingers on both hands is slightly swollen and my fingers are stiff. could this be finger tendonitis from overuse?

See below:: Possibly yes, but it happening on both sides at the same time is uncommon. It could be a number of other things in a 35 yo female, like rheumatoid. Common things like a ganglion cysts, trigger fingers etc, would be more likely cause of your problem. Consulting your ortho or hand surgeon would be beneficial for you.
