Sounds like an: enlarged lymph node.This is usually a reaction to a nearby infection,like a bottom tooth,gum, or tonsil on the same side or above of where the lump is located.Once the infection is treated or resolves,the lump should go back to normal size and the tenderness will go away.You may need to see your Doctor or Dentist to help you identify and properly treat this infection.
