I'm not sure we are: exactly on the same page: I'm guessing a hair bump is an inflamed hair follicle. These are pretty common. Folliculitis is the medical term, and most cases are self-limited and don't require antibiotic treatment. Applying a warm, moist compress (clean wash cloth) 2-3 times a day would help, along with some polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) cream/ointment. Doubt you would need OTC pain killier, i.e. NSAID.
