A 56-year-old female asked:
how long does one orlistat pill last?

1-2 Hours: The half life is 1-2 hours. That means that the medicine only stays in your intestines for a few hours. In 2 hours, only 60mg is still effective if you took a 120mg pill. That is why it must be taken with food.

Agree with Dr. Lin that it will take 5-10 hours to be completely out of your system. There is a lot of variability in transit through GI.

Half-life = 1-2hrs: https://online.epocrates.com/noframe/showpage.do?method=drugs&monographid=2062&activesectionid=7 lists half-life of orlistat (sold as xenical & alli) as 1-2hrs. Most drugs are theoretically out of your system after 5 half-lives. In this case, you're looking at 5-10hrs.
