Physical markers: When we examine a newborn in the first hours we can often tell the early, term and late by physical features.Late babies skin tends to be rougher and or pealing, the nails are long, other markers like a shriveled up umbilical cord stand out. In contrast the early baby can have less lines on their feet, softer skin with prominent fuzz and fleshier cord.
