Tonsilllitis: Make sure your doctor is aware of your symptoms. Severe tonsillitis can cause neck pain from lymph node enargement. If you have trouble looking at light, severe neck stiffness or pain, you need to be evaluated by a doctor ASAP. This could be a sign of meningitis.
