Both treatments OK: Doxycycline and azithromycin are equally effective and routinely recommended. Your bf was a bit overtreated; 7 days doxy is sufficient. Any other partners either of you has had in the past 2-3 months also should be treated. Both of you should be retested for chlamydia in about 3 months. Wait for about a week before having sex with your bf; or if you just can't wait, use condoms for a while.
