Does thickening of gallbladder wall always need to be treated? no stones were visible on mri. only symptom is back pain that seems mechanical.

MRI not ideal: MRI is not the best method to evaluate the gall bladder. Ultrasound is the preferred scanning technique. If the ultrasound confirms no stones, then gall bladder wall thickness is not necessarily a bad thing. Ultrasound should be your next imaging study. If symptoms persist, consider a CCK HIDA scan for gall bladder function.
