Absolutely: There are special instruments, tongue scrapers, that you can buy but using a toothbrush or the tongue scraper end of a toothbrush is just fine. Stick out your tongue and scrape back to front; with toothpaste is fine. Try to do twice a day, including first thing in morning before eating and drinking. Antibacterial mouthwash to rinse the scrapings is the perfect ending. Stay well:)

OK: But not necessary. It's the soft toothbrush bristles that remove bacteria and food debris, not the toothpaste. Remember to be gentle.
