Probably fractured.: I'm not sure if last Saturday was. last night, Saturday or a week ago Saturday. Either way, swelling, bruising and pain are all classic signs that the injury involves serious tissue damage. The initial treatment involves rest, icing, compression and elevation. If the RICE treatment has not improved the condition, then I would proceed as though a fracture occurred. An x-ray can easily verify that.

Be seen: It is difficult to say, but it would be wise to be seen and thoroughly evaluated including a probable xray to rule out a fracture.

X-rays indicated: If it's been over a week since the fall and your metatarsal still hurts while walking it should be x-rayed. Additionally, if you push on the metatarsal and it hurts on a certain spot (point tender) it is likely fractured and should be x-rayed.
