Itchy rash: Eczema in adults often does not follow the usual pattern (crease of elbow, crease of knees, and behind the ears etc) but the rash is usually intensely itchy and symmetrically distributed. A high serum IgE helps but not diagnostic. The probability rises significantly if the person also suffers from hay fever and/or asthma as well a family history of eczema.

Eczema: Eczema is a kind of allergy and is a chronic, itchy skin condition that is very common in children but may occur at any age . Commonly adults have persistent localised eczema, possibly confined to the hands, eyelids, flexures, nipples or all of these areas. clinical examination in most cases is enough to confirm the diagnosis. http://www.dermnetnz.org/topics/atopic-eczema/
