Similar but not same: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Claritin are both antihistamines that help with allergic symptoms but Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is short acting and crosses the blood brain barrier which means it will cause sleepiness. Claritin is longer acting and will not cause sleepiness.
