A member asked:

How would leukemia or lymphoma affect wbc differential? in other words, would neutrophils be high or would lymphocytes be high? even if total wbc is 8

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: Lymphoma typically arises from the lymph nodes...so the blood lymphocyte count is often normal. The main finding in lymphoma is enlargement of the lymph nodes. Leukemia on the other hand is a disease of the bone marrow which does affect the blood in more than one ways. The WBC count can be low, normal or high but there are often immature white cells(Blast cells) in the blood.
