Mgt: I would recommend being seen sooner and obtaining a culture prior to treatment. Some urgent care centers see children on the weekend.

No: For strep, you have 9-10 days from the start of symptoms before any of the long term issues are triggered. Treatment initiated within that interval cancels the risks of rheumatic fever.It is fine for her to wait and see her regular doc and have appropriate testing done.
