Otolaryngologist: This substance may be a mixture of mucus, saliva with traces of blood and may be coming from the back of the nose, paranasal sinuses, mouth or throat since you're not coughing it up. It is not a symptom of emphysema and most likely is not coming from the bronchial tubes or lungs which would usually have an accompanying cough. I recommend that you have an exam by an otolaryngologist.
