Unpredictable : colon cancer can spread quickly to the whole body or, most of the times, takes time to spread around. Also, people are diagnosed at different stages of the disease and it is hard to predict when it actually started. It is best diagnosed by a colonoscopy and biopsy of any suspicious mass.

Depends: You are foolish not to tell your MD and get it checked out. You need endoscopy !!!!!

Slowly: Colon cancer develops from polyps and it is thought that this process takes close to 10yrs. Blood in your stool currently may be more likely secondary to hemorrhoids but given that it has been present for so long, it MUST be evaluated by your doctor. I'd also recommend a colonoscopy.
