A member asked:

Can a dental crown last the rest of your life if you take good care if it?

Depends: Average life span of a crown is 10-15 years, which means half last longer and half don't. Depends on how well you care for your teeth and gums ( yes, daily flossing required), your occlusion, how much tooth material remains under the crown, stress (gum chewing, hard candy/ice, bagels, etc), parafunctional habits, etc. ask the person that knows your situation best, your Dentist.

See DDS regularly: Insurance companies generally will pay for a replacement after five to seven years. The duration of a crown is dependent on factors, such as oral hygiene, care, recession. It is important to see your dentist on prescribed intervals to curtail any issues that may arise, such as decay, periodontal disease and fracture.

Technically yes: But don't expect it to. Dental restorations are like durable goods... you expect them to last for a long time, but not forever. Keep your teeth clean, go for regular cleanings and check-ups, and you will improve your chances.
