A 24-year-old female asked:

what is idiopathic intracranial hypertension and what can it cause left sided headaches

IIH: It's a disorder where elevated pressure in the head can cause vision loss & headache. Left-sided headaches suggest migraine more than IIH. If IIH, headache should be worst upon awakening. Diagnosis shouldn't be made without seeing an ophthalmologist to confirm papilledema and to perform Humphrey Visual Fields. I have patients see ophtho before doing spinal tap. I'm available for consults.

Yes: Women with hypertensive complications of pregnancy have a higher chance of being delivered early because of problems their hypertension is causing them and/or their babies. Some hypertensive problems cannot be prevented, like preeclampsia. Chronic high blood pressure can be controlled or prevented by losing weight, reducing stress and daily exercise.
A 21-year-old member asked:

At what age is a person susceptible for high blood pressure?

Any age.: I have seen blood pressure in overweight teenagers, and there are certain diseases that predispose to blood pressure becoming high early. In people who have strong family history, are obese, and are physically out of shape, it is not uncommon to see high blood pressure in the mid to late 30s. I find by the 50s, even some very thin and fit people can have high blood pressure.
