Plan b : Use over the counter Plan B if intercourse was within 72 hours to decrease the risk of unplanned pregnancy. It is a high dose of hormones and designed to disrupt the menstrual cycle. It is difficult to have some bleeding after use. This is the way it works. Consider starting birth control to avoid these scares down the road
