Production,destructi: Think of a 2 part system; one side produces something and one side destroys same thing. In SC disease the person has a hemoglobin which has enough iron but the RBC is not flexible enough so it is destroyed more readily by the body. It is not a problem with too little being made (iron deficiency) but a problem with excess destruction.
