Depends on how low!: Muscle cramps, heart rhythm disturbances. If you have normal kidneys, which you should at your age, the main reason that you get lo potassium is from sweating it out when you are running a marathon and then you get muscle cramps in your calves. In addition to water, take a sodium and potassium tab when running if that happens to you.

Signs of low K.: 42 F. signs can develop very slowly. Here is my experience over 50 years in dealing with diseases that cause this: fatigue, muscle cramps, brain fog, peeing a lot at night, later during day as well, metallic taste in mouth. Some with this prob have been incorrectly diagnosed with MS, chronic fatigue, being "menopausal" chronic pain syndrome to mention a few. Can hep quickly with 2nd opinion here.
