A member asked:

I have copd and was hospalized in january a x-ray showed nodual on my lung is it usual to remove benign tumors from the lung?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not if benign: .We wouldn't routinely remove benign nodules from the lung, assuming of course that we're really certain that it's benign. Nodules like this need to be followed for a while by CT scanning to make sure they don't grow. If it seems to be growing at a pretty good rate, we would want to at least biopsy it to make sure it's benign.
