A member asked:

I'm fully breastfeeding my 5 month old but i have bacterial vaginosis. doctor prescribed 500mg of metronizadole for 7 days. is it safe to feed her?

Absolutely: There is NO PROBLEM taking that antibiotic and breastfeeding. Watch that baby doesn't develop a yeast infection in mouth or in diaper area. If so, just call doc for treatment for this. Please keep nursing- it's so much better for your baby.....!

No, but Controversia: The answer is not simple. In short, I would recommend NOT breastfeeding while using the drug. The drug is certainly present in breast milk. However, there is no evidence that the drug adversely effects your baby.
