Sounds like tendonit: This sunds liek tednonitis of the outside of your wrist. It could be ulnar carpi tendonitis. Is it tender to touch the outside of the left wrist. These are things to discuss with your physician.

Wrist pain: can be due to tendon, joint, bone, cartilage, nerve essentially anything. If pain has been present for a while is made worse with motion and there is no obvious swelling or trauma see a hand surgeon or orthopedic surgeon. The wrist is full or so many important anatomic structures. Simple not too tight splinting and OTC meds in small doses and ice for swelling and mild warmth for stiffness can help
