the thumb on my left hand hurts constantly. it seems to be getting worse. the only place it swells is on the large knuckle. what could be wrong with i?

Arthritis: Without an examination and fully understanding "large knuckle", you may have cmc arthritis which is pretty common as we age and based on the things that we do with are hands. You may consider a formal eval or can try a thumb splint, nsaids, and possibly an injection if severe. Worst case scenario is a surgery to remove the arthritic bone and a number of techniques to fill that void (suspensnplsty.
