Questions for you...: Does your Dad have poorly-fitting or repaired glasses? have a bleeding or clotting disorder? is taking aspirin or blood thinners? Any evidence of a bleeding site on examination of his face? Has this happened previously? Certainly, if this happens again, an evaluation is warranted.
