Different site: An evaluation should depend on 'what happened' during your encounter (the history of your illness) and the signs/symptoms you're showing (the physical part). If one area was evaluated that may not have been involved, a falsely reassuring result may obtained. That means, if you're having oral symptoms -direct evaluation with a swab should be done there. Most probably: Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can be detected in urine, male urethra, female vagina/cervical mucus, rectal/anal and oropharyngeal samples using the more sensitive Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests. Find out if your lab uses these NAAT and if the lab can provide you the appropriate instructions, swabs and transport kits.
