Possible: Do you have a history of DVT? With an elevated D dimer and a swollen extremity I would get yourself evaluated as soon as you can. Consider going in to the ER for evaluation tonight. Good luck and I hope you're feeling better soon.

D Dimer and PE: An elevated D dimer in the presence of upper extremity swelling is suggestive of deep vein thrombosis. Symptoms of chest pain and/or shortness of breath is suggestive of pulmonary embolism. This needs urgent evaluation in a n emergency room and investigation with Duplex venous scan of the arm, CT angiogram and anticoagulation for DVT and pulmonary embolism. Don't delay going to the emergency room
