I fell down my stairs last night,and my upper arm,this morning it hurts,and a bit swollen.no bruising or redness. how can tell if it's a blood clot?

Blood clots after: trauma as you describe are quite rare and would not be the first thing I would think of. If you have pain and there is swelling - especially at rest it may need to be looked at today for an xray.
