Probably the three most common causes of "hip" pain are problems in the hip itself, a problem in the back such as a pinched nerve, or a problem with the tendons on the side of the hip called ITB syndrome (also sometimes referred to as a bursitis of the hip). Don't hesitate to be seen for a specific diagnosis.
