Varies : It varies in part based upon the cause of the pain. But general principles include maintaining ideal body weight, being active, avoid activities that clearly aggravate your symptoms, and consider an "anti-inflammatory" diet. Smoking, obesity best avoided.

Joint pains: Depends on the cause of pain, age of patient and other medical conditions. Mainly symptomatic relief with paracetamol or brufen. But if pain die to infection , antibiotics will be needed along with orthopaedic review. If it is injury- pain relief+ rule out fracture. If arthritis- pain relief + bloods + rheumatologist review. If viral fever- pain relief+ time. Stomach ulcers- no NSAIDs . See Doctor
