A member asked:

Will there be a cure for hiv or cancer in the next 15-20 years?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: It won't happen any more than we'll be able to grow new teeth. HIV embeds deep in the genome and we'll never kill the last infected cell. Cancer is about 5000 different diseases with destabilized genome and some cases will continue to evade any treatment we come up with. That's the truth, but we will continue to improve what we've got, with prevention and early detection the key.
