Bruits are turbulent: 42 y/o female says Dr heard abdominal bruit, asks if life threatening? Bruits are turbulent flow over narrowed/blocked Artery usually caused by hardening/clogging of artery by Arteriosclerosis or dislodged particles (emboli) in the blood stream. Some are life threatening while others are not. Abdominal Aorta bruit usually at point of dilation of the medial tunica tearing away from clogged intima
