Type of visit: For optimal results pap smears are best done outside the menstrual period. If the gyn visit is for pelvic pain, being on the menstrual period is not a problem.

Maybe not: Since you are age 19, routine pelvic exams are not required at Gyn appointments. I would keep the appointment but if the doc suggests an exam ask that it be done on another visit when you are not on your period. You can still talk about your cramping and schedule an u/s. Best wishes!
