An er doc gave me benzocaine/antipyrine ear drops yesterday. he said there was no inflammation or obstruction. still have pain over 24 hours later.

See an ENT Doc: Most general physicians are not well versed in treating patients with ear infections. You may be better off by seeing an ENT doctor unless the pain is mild and tolerable in which case it might not be infection and will likely settle down with these drops.. if you wait until Monday.

You need: a more "expert" evaluation by an EAR NOSE THROAT Specialist..the drops the ER Doc gave you are a local ANESTHETIC meant to "numb" the pain not TREAT the possible REASONS for the pain!
