Cold or more??: If it just a cold, usually there are evident signs of respiratory distress. Those are rapid breathing (more than 24 x/min); nasal flaring;?; chest retractions; and use of the accessory muscles of respiration. If none of thes are present the cough is much more likely to originate at the pharyngeal level. An excellent med for type of cough is benzonatate.
