For the past year and a half i have been coughing up green mucus plugs, usually with blood in them, on and off. what could be the cause?

Cause: I must admit I do not have a ready answer. That said you have two choices: 1: Have someone take you to the nearest Emergency facility. 2: Contact your primary doctor while she/he is still at work. Please let me know what develops - hope all goes OK.
