A member asked:

Is an arachnoid cyst normal ? my doctors say " it's normal " but it's not i know it. and i always have massive headaches and they don't help.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Arachnoid cysts are the most common expansive intracranial lesions, but they are not 'normal.' Some people may have an arachnoid cyst without any symptoms, and it can be followed clinically and with MRI. If you have symptoms - which include headache or seizures - neurosurgical consultation is recommended. Literature shows vast majority of patients improve with decompression of cyst.
