A member asked:

My boyfriend has been tested and doesn't have any stis and i've never been with anyone so i don't either. so could i get an sti if he doesn't have one?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It can happen: A person could have an infection that is not usually considered an STI, but is called an STI if it is located on genitals. An example would be one person transmitting oral herpes to another person's genitals. A person could have an STI that was not tested for in her partner. There are many different tests for different STI's. Also, a negative result might be a false negative and need a retest.
