Obstipation: If you have a strong urge to have a bowel movement but can't and, especially if you're having cramps, don't take more laxatives but instead you have to work from below using glycerin rectal suppository, or dulcolax rectal suppository or a fleets enema. If these are not helpful, you may require manual disimpaction and evaluation in the hospital emergency room. Applying heat to the abdomen may help
