Is it safe to give my 7 year old son a low dose chewable bayern aspirin for a headache?

Would not: With the availability of Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Motrin , aspirin should not be given routinely to children. There is a relationship between aspirin and Reye's syndrome, a serious complication of taking aspirin that has disappeared since the association was discovered. Why place your child at increased risk?

Aspirin: absolutely not, don't give your child aspirin, only tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin is preferred

Worrisome drug: In the 70's and 80's we saw sporadic episodes of kids dying of liver failure after aspirin exposure, which stopped after we quit giving it to kids under 16. We rarely use it any more because we have safer alternatives like tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin. When we use it ( Kawasaki disease,arthritis) the low dose form would not be effective.
