Hives: What you describe is most likely what is called a hive. This is a hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to something. The itch can be relieved with witch hazel or an over-the-counter topical hydrocortisone. When this occurs, you need to take note of what is in contact with your skin at that point or what kind of irritation like rubbing could be occurring. If the problem continues, seeing a allergist or dermatologist could be helpful.
