What will happen if i put weight on a surgically repaired fractured ankle too soon.?

Lose reduction: Putting weight on a surgically fixed ankle fracture can cause loss of the fixation that was placed to keep the bone in their normal position. If you accidentally step on it in a cast usually ok but if you consistantly put pressure before the time your doc advised looking for trouble. Early fllowup x-rays are in order esp. If you fall on to the fixed ankle or have increased pain.

Injury: You could re-injure the ankle and cause delayed healing or need for secondary surgery.
