Suggestions: If there is no sign of nerve root compression, would handle conservatively, and start Physical Therapy, with eventual use of McKenzie back exercises. Disc may spontaneously desiccate and shrink over next 6-9 months, so would not rush after a surgical solution, unless things are literally falling apart.

Two options: 1. Conservative care: time, activity modifications, pain meds, therapies (including physical therapy, chiropractic and others), lumbar steroid injections. 2. If the others fail, have surgery but this must be discussed with a Spine Surgeon extensively to see if there is even surgery that could help you. Most of the time #1 is sufficient and you will recover. not requiring any surgery.
