Yes.: However, be careful that physicians treat patients and not just findings on the MRI scan. It is possible that findings on MRI do not actually correlate with your symptoms. This is why it is important for you to seek care from a physician who tries to separate these issues out.

Possibly: A bulging disc can occur at an adjacent vertebral space after an injury. This often occurs because of the muscle spasm that occurs in one area may allow additional stress in the nearby area, just from normal, ordinary movement. It can occur several months after the initial injury.
