You can always ask: A healthy patient-physician relationship should make you comfortable making reasonable request. Having said that, if I know which study you are referring to - one has to keep in mind the study is very much a laboratory study showing chloroquine/amodiaquine can activate Nurr1, a "master switch" for brain regeneration, in petri dish. Clinical efficacy has NOT being proven.

Many drugs are offered via both prescription and OTC (i.e. Esomeprazole 20mg). I am aware they technically have different indications or directions per the label, but why are doctors still highly prescribing these drugs if they are available OTC?
