Probably safe but...: If the diagnosis is correct, no problem. Bacterial prostatitis is caused by bacteria that are normal in the female genital tract. However, bacterial prostatitis is uncommon in young men, and STDs like NGU, chlamydia or gonorrhea can be misdiagnosed as prostatitis. If at risk for STD (other partners), need STD tests. If your antibiotics cover STDs, your partner probably is protected. Discuss w doc.
