A member asked:

Our physio says someone with "chronic overbreathing" won't get bad symptoms until they try to slow their breathing down. is this true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chronic Over-breathi: Weird DX. That is the pathology not reducing to normal 16-18 or so breaths per minute. Hyperventilation (over breathing) reduces you blood CO2 and reduces the acidity in the blood causing nerve conduction problems, dizziness and even fainting. Someone has the wrong idea.
