Given history, an: intracranial bleed possible though unlikely; subdural (veins) or arteries (less likely), vs. physiologic/memory related. The throbbing sensation is c/w vascular (migraine) mechanism. MRI brain = current best technology to differentiate (best at showing soft tissue), though CT brain more commonly done because less expensive (though also somewhat less accurate). Seek help worthy of your trust.
